Colerain Student Honored

Rosalyn Swain, a freshman AVID student at Bertie County High School, has been accepted to attend the Legislator’s School for Youth Leadership Development this summer at East Carolina University (ECU).

Legislators' School for Youth Leadership Development is a one-week residential summer program funded by the North Carolina General Assembly to target young leaders within our state. This program will work to enhance leadership and communication skills, as well as develop conflict resolution and problem-solving strategies in teenagers.

Dynamic speakers, entertainment, and recreational activities are scheduled. The basis of the school's leadership curriculum is The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Dr. Stephen Covey and The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey.

Outstanding staff from across North Carolina will help students enhance their leadership abilities by focusing on issues facing teenagers and highlighting ways that young people can make a difference in their schools and communities.

Rosalyn is the daughter of Graylord and Mary Swain of Colerain, North Carolina.
