Windsor Rotary Hears About Conservation

Brian Short, Soil Conservationist from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, was the speaker at yesterday's weekly Rotary luncheon.

Brian gave a fascinating recap of the major conservation programs that his department is helping with in our area. Three that he covered in detail included the
Wetlands Reserve Program, the Environmental Quality Incentives Program to assist farmers who face threats to soil, water, air and related natural resources on their land, and the Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program which is focusing on Bobwhite Quail recovery here in North Carolina.

Steve Wishall presented Brian with the traditional cobalt blue coffee mug as a thank you.

Brian is located here in Windsor. If you have other questions about these or any of the other programs available to help with conservation in our area, Brian can be contacted at (252) 794-5305 or by email at brian.short@nc-usda.gov
