Windsor Rotary Hears About Retirement Planning

The speaker for this week's Rotary Luncheon was Brent Downing, Vice President with Planco, a member of the Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. The presentation was on financial planning with an emphasis on adequate returns for our current trends in retirement.




Brent explained the kind of services he could provide in analyzing and setting goals for the allocation of retirement assets to help attain adequate growth while securing assets for an individual investor. He recommended the need for people to make adequate plans for retirement but with less emphasis on caution than in the past. This recommendation is influenced by the new reality that people are living much longer. The level of caution needed in past retirement planning can be too cautious in the world of modern medicine where long life is so much more likely. This longer life can exhaust retirement funds if past practices are continued and this impact must be considered.
