Bertie County Teachers Welcomed

For the scond year in a row, the Windsor Bertie County Chamber of Commerce sponsored a day during which new teachers for Bertie County were shown many of the highlights of our County. The day started Wednesday at the Freeman Hotel, the home of the Chamber of Commerce and ended at Hope Plantation, the home of David Stone, Bertie Countie's former Governor of the State of North Carolina.

Many of the town of Windsor and County dignitaries gathered to greet the teachers and welcome them to our community and their new positions of responsibility with our children. From left above are Steve Biggs, Director of Economic Development, Bob Spivey, Mayor of Windsor, Zee Lamb, Bertie County Manager, Norman Cherry, Chairman of Bertie County Commissioners, Allen Castelloe, Windsor Town Manager and Collins Cooper, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce.

Buneva Everett (above left) of Southern Bank and Collins Cooper (above right) of the Chamber chatted while waiting for the teachers to arrive.

Chairman Norman Cherry (shown above) greeted the teachers and shared some of his stories about his teaching days.

Mayor Bob Spivey (above) also welcome the teachers to their new positions, including both some local Bertie County residents as well as some who are moving from other areas.

Final act of the breakfast that started the day was a group photo of the teachers who attended the event, just before they loaded up the bus to start their grand tour of the county.
